Leaving this website with just Mike Bove's yearbook photo with his bowl-haircut is simply not enough.  Mike (usually Michael to me, Mike, Bove and Bovey to many others) lived a short loud life.  Michael was not everyone's cup of tea.  Brutally honest and brash he suffered no fools.  He was also a funny, loyal and trustworthy friend.  After high school we made several road trips from UMass to party with Bove at St. Mike's.  After college we would make the trip to Philly where he worked, to do the same and take in a Celtics-76ers game.  Michael, an only child, lost his father suddenly when he was about 14-15.  He lived life like his could be taken at any time.  After having more girlfriends than I can count he married Linda and had a baby girl. I think he was 40 when he died suddenly at home, taken by a rare genetic cardiac arrythmia as his father was. His wake was attended by multiple ex-girlfriends and so many others.  The next day, his wife walked down the center aile of the church holding his babygirl.  It was very sad.  Looking back now, I am proud of him.  His cousin Tony D'Amico, Paul Corrigan, Dan Curtis and others were among the fortunate ones who got to know the real Michael.

Cheers to Mike Bove.

Dick, thank you for breaking the ice. Michael was a gem. He loved life and life loved him back. He had a great laugh and a generous soul. I can still hear his voice with a snark saying "trunk key" when I got to close to the car in front of us, bracing his hands on the dash.  He loved competitive games. He was a great golfer but he would play anything,  Liars Poker and pick up basketball being two of his favorites.. He woukd embarrass McKay and Ready by winning with me as a teammate (not my best sport) in two on two hoops at the Regis College's outdoor courts, leaving Peter mumbling to himself. He loved to give his coworkers monikers and they we're usually embarrassing. Alas, I can't repeat them here but Curtis and I hung a great one on him and he willingly went by it the rest of the summer. Mike was special. His life was too short but he he filled it to the brim.

Hi Dick & Paul, and thanks for adding your comments.

I looked for obits, and could only find a very short death notice for Mike.  If you have links to a memories or a significantly developed obit, please sent it and I'll push it up the chain. We do have reports about some other deaths, but I am still chasing obits on those.  For obvious reasons, we want to find evidence before posting to the memory page.

Not much that I can add to what Dick and Paul so eloquently expressed about my cousin and friend Mike.   I'll add that he was extremely generous and thoughtful.    He'd give you the shirt off his back though due to our rather signicant differences in physique I never got a shirt.  But I did get a job as a member of the greenskeeping crew at Woodland CC thanks to him. A great summer job with Mike, Danny Curtis and Paul Corrigan.   It wasn't all one way.  Mike had a mouth on him and we had to step in on occasion to keep him from getting his ass kicked.

Always fun to be around.    He was one of a kind.

Mike was a great friend -- and alot of fun to be around.  I only learned of his passing a few years ago and even then I couldn't find anything on it, including when he passed, when I searched the web.  We had some great times on the golf team, including one time when he dragged his putter on the pavement outside the car -- in motion -- to punish it for a particularly bad day on the greens after one of our Suburban League matches.  Only Mike would think of doing that.

I echo the comments of Paul and Dick.  Mike left us way, way too soon.

Michael and I grew up around the corner from each other in Newton Lower Falls. We went all the the way through school together from nursery school on Clearwater Road to NHS.  Michael was an unwavering friend to me through those years.  He was indeed a generous and loyal person to those he liked.  A hard worker and avid sports fan.  I last saw Michael in 1990 I think, when visiting home from CA.  He was playing cards with his cousin Tony at David Boyajian's on Thanksgiving eve.  He again as always left me with a smile.  He is missed.
